/Quick Point/ – Alcoa Provides Important, Positive Indicator
Alcoa’s earnings report had better news than expected.
Not only were operating earnings above expectations, but also many areas saw improvements. (Alcoa’s management comments’ transcript is available here.)
Stock is up nicely today. As I mentioned in previous article, Alcoa provides us with a good indicator for basic industry – and it shows improvement, with their forward-looking commentary supporting a positive outlook. Note that the recent aluminum price rise did not affect results, so that is a future bonus.
So… All in all, this is an excellent report for both Alcoa and the US economy.
