Choosing Among Tech’s 4 Horsemen

The tech horse race continues to have shifting obstacles and track conditions. Among the four biggies – Apple (AAPL), Google (GOOG), Amazon (AMZN) and Microsoft (MSFT) –, what comes next? Are there clear winners emerging? Can all four win, in their own way? Or will each become an also-ran as some new tech firm emerges, galloping ahead to the winner’s circle?

That last alternative (i.e., new firms taking over) is practically a sure bet, given the history of technological development. New tech firms can put all their resources and efforts into the latest, greatest thing. With good leadership, they can conquer even the most (formerly) successful companies. However, that is the long-term view. What about the 2011-2012 stock market? Likely one or more of the big four will be a rewarding investment. Which one(s)?
